Do you think you’re pregnant, or have you taken a positive at-home pregnancy test? Get a free pregnancy test at Havelock Pregnancy Resource Center to confirm your pregnancy.

When is the best time to take a pregnancy test?

Several factors determine the time to test. Is your monthly cycle ordinarily regular? Do you have other early pregnancy symptoms besides a late period?

If your menstrual cycle is regular (every 28 to 30 days), you can take a pregnancy test a day after your expected start date. If your periods are irregular, we suggest waiting 3 or 4 days.

How does a pregnancy test work?

When a woman becomes pregnant, her body produces a pregnancy hormone known as human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). This hormone is produced right after a fertilized egg attaches to a woman’s uterus wall. A pregnancy test detects hCG in her blood and urine if she is pregnant.

Different pregnancy tests have different levels of sensitivity, so some tests detect hCG earlier than others. We provide a free clinical urine pregnancy test. Don’t wait or worry—find out today!

If I am pregnant, what should I do next?

There is still a possibility you may no longer be pregnant, even if your pregnancy test is positive. The Mayo Clinic reports up to 20% of known pregnancies to end in a natural miscarriage. It takes your body time to rid itself of the pregnancy hormones, which may result in a false positive.

Your next step is a state-of-the-art ultrasound exam. We provide limited ultrasound services for free if you are within the appropriate pregnancy date range,

Once we’ve confirmed your pregnancy is viable (developing), we can discuss your options as you move forward.
